team meeting: medical training

Sunday we met for over 2 hours, preparing for practicing medicine in South Africa. We will not just treat diabetes and hypertension: we will test people for HIV, teach them about AIDS and help them get treatment, pray with them and counsel them, and connect them with a loving and caring network of Christians in their community.
We had some guests from Palmetto Medical Initiative and Mosaic Church attend the event. Here's some of our team after the meeting:

Team Rock Climbing & Camping trip

For a team-building exercise, we spent Sat/Sun at Crowders Mountain and Kings mountain, enjoying God's glorious greenery and rocky cliffs. Our posse bravely rappelled a 10+ story overhanging cliff, then climbed vertical rock faces and cracks. We ate by campfire and slept in tents. We got to know a little more about ourselves, each other, and God.

teams need to gel

we have had a few socials to help the team members get to know each other better before we leave - these are a cookout at the Jefford's home 2 wks ago, and...

a rock climbing party at the Overcashes' last weekend.

next weekend the team is going on a camping trip to NC...

preparing for the task ahead...

There is too much to share - basically everyone on the team is in charge of something - preparing medical lessons for the AIDS orphans' moms; gathering and packing medical supplies; making programs for the children, local pastors, and the mission team; planning logistics with Emoyeni, MUSC, and Seacoast Church. It really does take 40 of us to do this. And it takes one. God. As we update this blog, please take a moment to see what's new and please lift up a prayer for us. He hears you, and we know from years past He honors them in mighty ways!
